In my blog on Makar Sankranti i forgot to mention that this festival is celebrated as Lohri in the northern states, mainly in Punjab. Lohri means loot and on this day children go from door to door singing and demanding Lohri in cash or kind. In the evening bonfires are lit and there is much singing and dancing.

My apologies for missing out on this to all of you who "balle balle" or dance the Bhangra on Lohri day.
